What is spyware? And why is it riskful?

Let’s talk about a subtle yet significant cyber threat: spyware. Understanding spyware is crucial because it operates stealthily, spying on your digital movements without your knowledge. Imagine you download what appears to be a legitimate application or click on a popup that seems benign - without realizing it, you've just invited spyware into your digital life. This deceitful software hides in the background, monitoring your keystrokes; tracking your browsing habits; and even eavesdropping on your private conversations.

So how does spyware infiltrate our systems? It could be a malicious website, a deceptive email attachment, or even bundled with legitimate software. Once installed, spyware can collect an array of data from personal information to financial details compromising your privacy and security.

To defend against these prying eyes you must be vigilant:

• Install reputable anti-malware software that specifically targets spyware.
• Keep your operating system and applications up to date to close any security gaps.
• Be selective about what you download ensuring applications come from trusted sources.
• Regularly check your devices for any signs of spyware: this could be your computer suddenly slowing down, strange popups, or unexpected changes in settings.
